Harpist Serena O'Meara

 Personal Information:

Nationally-acclaimed harpist, Serena O'Meara, got her start in the Midwestern United States, performing regularly throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Northern Michigan. Her discography includes six recordings;  "A CHRISTMAS HARP", "COLLAGE", " ONE MOMENT IN TIME", "WIND BENEATH MY WINGS",  "MUSIC OF THE NIGHT", and "MOMENT OF MY HEART". As an educator, she has produced an instructional video and numerous sheet music arrangements for Harp Duos and Harp Ensemble. She is the founder and director of one of the longest-running pre-collegiate Harp Ensemble in the United States. Currently, she keeps a studio of over 40 harp students, runs a music publishing company, performs as the Principal Harpist in the Chippewa Valley Symphony, and continues to tour regularly as a soloist and with a variety of chamber ensembles. Trio H20 is one of the ensembles.


Serena O'Meara began studying Harp during a summer music camp at University of Wisconsin-Madison
with Margaret Cooper. She continued her studies at the University of Minnesota, receiving a Bachelor of Science with Distinction in Music Therapy, doing an internship at the Menninger Foundation in Topeka, Kansas. Following her internship, Serena worked as a Music Therapist for Veterans Administration Medical Centers, first in Topeka, Kansas and later in Temple, Texas, and taught elementary music in Idaho. During this time Serena continued to study Harp with Margaret Ling at the University of Kansas and Gayle Barrington at the University of Texas, while performing professionally in various areas of the country.

Serena has studied with Gladys Hubner of Minneapolis, who studied with Marcel Grandjany; and performed with the Minnesota Orchestra. Serena also studied with Eileen Malone, Professor Emeritus at Eastman School of Music, Rochester, New York.
